Chow Time Vegas Style

Well I am just about finished will Vegas, however one thing that I cannot go without mentioning is the food!

Vegas has some of the best dinning in the world. We took the time to sample a few different restaurants, at a few different price points and styles.

One of my favorite places to eat while in Vegas is Dick's. It is not a family restaurant, and you can pretty much find every type of person in that place. I highly suggest a few drinks before you go, and please do not go if you are easily offended by things. This was my second time dinning at Dick's. It is not a place you go for great food, it is all about the experience. I won't spoil the surprise for you, just make sure you go!

Please do not try to read our hats....

My other favorite dining experience in Vegas was Tao. We had dined here when in New York, and it was the best food I have ever had. It called for a repeat trip this time, and it was even better then the first time!

I hated sushi till I tried this! Officially converted now
Crab Cakes, also delicious
and filet mignon! We even got to cook it ourselves

Another dining experience we had was at P.F Changs. We do not have it in Canada, and so we went for Lunch one day. It was really good, love eating there!

Our final dining experience in Vegas was at Margaritaville. This place is also one of my favorite in Vegas. We went for nachos and beer one afternoon. It was the perfect day to spend the last day in Vegas, sitting outside in the sun!

These nachos are huge, but so good! 4 of us tried to finish them, and we did not come even close.... I asked the serve if anyone ever had finished them, and his response was, "Most groups of 4 eat them all, I have seen a few 2's and 3's finish them all. Actually one time I see a single guy finish them, but he was high at the time, and well you know how that is!"

Eiffel Tower Vegas Style

Another thing that we wanted to do while in Vegas was go up the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Hotel. This is really much better to do at night when the city is all lit up, but we did not have time to stand in line and wait.

There was a doorman working the elevator, and on the way up you learned some pretty cool stuff about the tower and the Paris hotel. The Eiffel Tower was built before the actual hotel, that is why you see the legs sticking through the hotel. The Vegas version is also exactly 1/2 the size of the real one in Paris. The reason for this... it is located to close to the airport to have a structure stand that tall!

The views from the top really are amazing!

On our way down we also learned of some of the new things coming to Vegas. The first is a massive dome that will be near Mandalay Bay. It will house a ski hill, water park, surf area and much more. This is modeled after the one in Dubi. They are also starting construction of a Bourbon Street. It will be going in the wide street between the Flamingo Hotel and Harrah's. At the end of it will be the worlds largest observatory. It will take 1 hr to complete the loop. The final development that is happening is a high speed train between LA and Vegas. Right now it takes 4hrs to get between the two cities, but when the train is completed, the trip will take only 45 mins!

Hotel Tour: Treasure Island Las Vegas

While we stayed at the Flamingo hotel in Vegas, the guys that we hung out with were stationed at Treasure Island. This had always been a hotel that we had thought about staying at, but would always cheap out and decide to spend our money shopping instead.

It was fun to be able to see inside without having to pay. The room was really nice and recently redone, or at least modern. They may have been a little smaller then our room at the Flamingo, but again how much time do you really spend in your hotel room while in Vegas!

The best thing about the room, and TI is the pirate show that happens each night. We missed it the first time we were in Vegas, so we really wanted to catch it this time. We were able to see it from up in the boy's room, but this is what it looks like from the Boardwalk infront of the hotel.

The Secret Garden

While in Vegas we took some time to do some relaxing things  when not shopping, or out on the town! We decided that the Secret Garden in the Mirage was the perfect place to escape for a morning.

I was not totally sure what to expect here, but when we turned the corner this is what we instantly saw....

How could you not be in heaven looking at this! There were 7 dolphins altogether. I have never seen animals that are just so happy. They were the complete opposite of those that used to be at West Edmonton Mall. These animals would jump and play with the crowds, without a trainer around either.

We spent a good time watching them before we moved onto the next phase. The next corner that we turned we saw this....

How could you not be in love with their animals. It reminded me of my tiger days in Thailand. The animals were so beautiful! My favorite was the big Siberian Tiger.

Sights and Sounds of Vegas

Well it is time to dive into some of the goods from our Vegas trip. I am sad to be home, but my poor feet are ever so happy that we are done wearing heels for a while.

Our friend Wolfman. I think he was from Oregon maybe?

We took up playing KENO! Brett even won $100

We took a journey down to Freemont Street

The boys found some showgirls

We even played the slots and won!
The gondola ride was pretty sweet

We found a country bar, and I rode the bull

I spent $40 betting on hockey games and won $37.50 back
We played beer pong, Brett and I totally won!

Hotel Tour: Flamingo Las Vegas

Well we did it! We survived another trip to Las Vegas. This week I will have a few posts for you about our trip, and some of the more g rated pictures.

To kick it all off I thought I would feature our home for the week, the Flamingo Las Vegas. This is the second time we have stayed here, and it is a great hotel. It it not to big, the rooms are clean, sure it may not be the prettiest, or fanciest, but it is centrally located on the strip which is huge for us!

The rooms have not changed very much in the 2 years since we have been there. They are really spacious, so we had lots of space to spread all of our stuff out.

The bathrooms could use a little bit of updating, as will the rest of the room, but really when you are in Vegas a hot shower and warm bed is all I am worried about! The floor length mirror is also great in here for getting ready.

Now for the best part of our room! We had a strip view without having to pay for one. It was really neat to look out and see onto the strip from our room. We even seen the sun setting over the mountains a couple of nights.

If we looked to the right we seen the Mirage hotel.

And to the left was the Bellagio hotel

Crystal and Quinn Take Las Vegas

Well we just finished another girls trip, this time going back to Vegas again. Our girls trip started with 4, went down to 3, and this trip we only had 2 of us. Since we had so much fun the first time, we decided to bring the girls along with us to Vegas.

Crystal and Quinn were staying at the Flamingo again. This is where we stayed the first time we went to Vegas. Quinn was ready for a night out on the town, and Crystal is ready to get down at a country bar.

We stayed on the 18th floor of the hotel. For some reason the girls could not remember this, and so we ended up on the 11th, and 17th floor some nights!

We took lots of cab rides together, the 4 of us had lots of good laughs in there.

They even got to come to Tao with us. This was Quinn's second time here, she came with us in NYC. Crystal said that her favorite thing we ate was the crab cakes.

We also played the slots some. None of us won big, but had lots of fun.

We even made some time for shopping. You can't leave Vegas without some souvenirs!
