Golden Globes Worst Dressed

The second awards show of the season was tonight. This is my favorite of them all for a few reasons. It gives us a good look at who will be in contention for Oscars, it is not nearly as stuff and formal as the Oscars, and it includes both TV and Film, so twice as many dresses!!
These are my picks of the Worst Dressed. Let me know what you think!
Worst Dressed: Anna Paquin
I really hate this dress. It is way to shiny and glittery. The shoes are a terrible choice, and much to heavy for a dress like this. Also not sure what is on her right wrist, but it was a bad choice.
Should Have Been Great But Wasn't: Julianne Moore
When your date is Tom Ford the legendary fashion designer who has been the head of fashion houses like Gucci for years, you should look amazing right? Well whatever Julianne was thinking it did not come out amazing. i don't mind the color, but whatever is happening at the top is not working for me. Nor are the heavy emerald earrings as beautiful as they are!
From Best to Worst: January Jones
Last Year January was every one's best dressed in an amazing Versace dress. This year her Lavin dress does nothing to impress. It is boring and forgetful. The headband is also awful...
Should Have Stuck to Black: Tina Fey
Every awards show Tina wears black. Although it may not be the most creative or exciting, it is much better then this. This dress is an awkward length, and the pattern is hard on the eyes. Good try for trying something new, but next time stick to what works.
Never Gets it Right: Drew Barrymore
Drew has a different sense of style. She always tries new looks, and usually they fail. This dress is actually very nice, aside from the fungus looking growths on her hip and shoulder.
Just Not Working for Me: Sofia Avergara
This dress is just not exciting me. I do not like the colour combo, and the long train coming off here back just doesn't work for me either. Another one that is a good attempt, but didn't pan out.
Get This Woman Some Support: Heidi Klum
For a woman who is a spokesperson for bra's, you would think she knows something about support. However, that is exactly what Heidi was lacking with this dress. I love the dress, but it just didn't all come together. Plus her hair really needs to be pulled back.
Put the Girls Away: Mariah Carey
We all know that you have large breasts. Please do not feel the need to shove them in our face!
Most Disappointing: Diane Kruger
Diane is another one with a different sense of style. But unlike Drew Barrymore, she usually ends up on best dressed lists. This dress really does not work for me. I do not like the colour at all. Pink dresses on the red carpet make me think of little girls birthday parties...
Please Go Back Blonde: Fergie
I really like this dress. I think it is probably the best that Fergie has ever looked. However, the dark hair really ruins this look for me.

Should Have Stuck With the Runway Version: Carey Mulligan

Carey is another girl who usually is on the best dressed lists. This dress just lacks enough to make it onto the best dressed list. The runway version had so much more excitement and detail.

Denver Stock Show

Right now the Denver Stock Show is on. This is like the Super Bowl of all cattle shows, and rumour has it, that its a pretty good time as well.

I was hoping to get down this year, as I have never been, and it is one of my 101 in 1001. However, I needed to renew my passport, and lets just say that its not back yet. So no Denver for me this year...

There was a large group of Canadians then are down there or going down with cattle. Most of the major breeds will be represented with Canadian cattle. So far only the Red Angus and the Black Angus bulls have shown. Out of those 6 Champions 4 of them were bred in Canada, and 3 of them currently are owned by Canadians!

Congrats to all of the winners, and to all the exhibitors for going down and making the Americans take notice of what us Canadians are all about. I will keep you posted if any other cattle are chosen as champions through rest of the shows!

The Countdown Is On!

With less then 1 month until the Olympic games begin, the excitement is definitely in the air. Last night the Olympic torch made its way through Edmonton.
Brett and I headed down to Churchill Square to see the torch, and see the cauldron be lit. Although we were not sure what to expect, it was a pretty neat thing to see. There was so much pride and excitement in the air.

Although I am disappointed in some of the approaches that the Olympics are taking, I think that it will be an amazing few weeks to watch out Canadian athletes compete in their home country. I know I will be glued to the TV during that time!

Time to Share #14

Another week has come and gone, and another week to feature one of my favorite things!

This week I wanted to feature another website that is very close to me... mainly because I am part of the website!

High Country Cattle Services is our farm. We have had a website for a year or more now, but have made some changes as of this week. We will now be posting blogs on there about things happening on the farm, or agriculture.

On our website you can find our Donors and elite females, our new herdsires and also anything that is for sale. There is a new video that is up that is pretty cool if you want to check it out!

The Evolution Begins

The world of Avatar is something that is all very new to me. So when the new James Cameron movie came out, I was not jumping up and down to see it. Sure it had great technology, and supposedly a decent store line, but it was not just overly appealing to me.

Over the weeks, I kept hearing more and more reports about how amazing the movie was. Finally tonight I was able to see the movie, and what an experience it was.

The first thing that is truly unbelievable is the 3-D experience. To have the movie jump off the screen, and be right on your lap, its amazing. The way we watch movies really has changed. Secondly, the idea and work that went into this film is unlike any other. To creating a new language to new animals, and a new culture takes more time then you can imagine.

Once you settle in to the movie, the story takes place. It is a great mix of action, emotion, and a little bit of romance as well. The movie has a great plot, and takes you to another world, literally!

One of my new favorite actresses Zoe Saldana is the lead actress. Not only is she beautiful in real life, but she makes a beautiful tall blue woman as well!
If you have the chance go see this movie, especially in the theatre. I don't think that watching it at home will give you nearly the same effect.

Eh-O-Canada-Go!

That's right, that is Canada's new and pathetic hockey cheer... Maybe they will get rid of it now that Canada lost the gold medal.

Last night Canada and the USA played an amazing game of hockey. It was the World under 18 Championship. Canada has won this tournament the last 5 years in a row, and last night tried for #6.

Unfortunately, Canada lost the game due to some poor goal tending, but regardless, they made a valiant effort lead by Jordan Eberle. Jordan was the Edmonton Oilers #1 draft pick in 2009, and a good pick he was!

Hopefully because of our U18 loss we will now make up for it at the Olympics. Canada can't lose 2 international hockey competitions in a year!!
