Another one of our stops on the engagement photo tour will be the University of Alberta. Dan has done all of his post secondary schooling there, and is currently finishing up his PhD in Mechanical Engineering. I spent a lot of time there with friends going to school, so we thought it would be a great place to do some pictures. 

The idea for these ones is a little bit city. After all you can't have a great shoe collection and not show them off!

Loving This Right Now

I mentioned that we would have some new features on the blog, and each Friday I am going to feature something that I am loving right now.

Footwear of the Week

This week has been a welcomed change for me. Working downtown there is a certain dress code that comes with the area. That means no jeans or sweats, and we wear suits and heels each day.

With Farmfair in town it meant that I got to trade these Louboutin's....

What to Wear: Derby Outfit

I know the derby was a month ago, but I can't stop thinking about what a great outfit this would be. Crystal is talking about maybe having a derby night at her stagette this winter, so maybe this will just have to be my outfit!

My Vegas Purchase

While in Vegas I hinted that I had made my annual big purchase. In the past this has been designer scarves and expensive shoes. This year I knew that I either wanted a purse or another pair of shoes. Being a shoe lover, the shoes easily won the battle, and I can say that I never lean looked at a designer purse while there.

I had some some searching online to see what shoes I loved. I am a huge fan of Loubioutin's, but wanted to give all shoes a chance. After all, there are so many beautiful shoes to chose from.

I had found these Fendi shoes a few weeks before we left. However, I could not find out where to buy them, or how much they are. We did find them while in Vegas as Saks Fifth Ave. They were about $700 a pair. I was a little dissapointed in the shoes, the wood soles were much darker, and the heel was all in bronze. Not what I was looking for.

The first pair of shoes that I tried on was this pair of Louboutins. The ones I tried on were more teal then blue, and each pair is different in color as they are made out of watersnake skin. They are the most beautiful shoes that I have ever seen. I really fell in love with them. These shoes are super comfortable, felt like velvet when you touched them, just were amazing. The price was a little more then I wanted to spend, but for these shoes I would have paid it. The downfall.... they are open toe. I really do not like open toe shoes, and I also cannot wear them to work. That was the deal breaker.

The next pair of shoes I tried on really intreged me. I knew that I did not want black or tan shoes, and that really cuts down on the selection. I love purple, and did not have a pair of purple shoes yet. The part that I loved the most about these shoes were the zippers on the back of the heels. Although they do not actually work they are a really cool detail that make them more then just a purple heel. Of course they have the classic red Loubioutin sole that makes them recognizable anywhere. And at about $300 less then the other heels these were a clear winner!

The shoes seen a night out in Vegas already, and have been patiently awaiting a time to wear them out in Edmonton. After all you don't wear fabulous heels like this just anywhere!

The Countdown is On!

With only 8 days till we head out for Vegas, my excitement is pretty much over the top right now. I love Vegas in all it's sparkly, over the top, craziness glory!

This trip it will just be Brett and myself, and there will also be some other people that Brett knows there at the same time. We will be there for 5 days, so it will be a great break from this cold weather that showed up today.

Each time I go to the states, I usually look for some "investment" piece. By "investment" I mean something that is a bigger purchase, a little bit more expensive and from some of my favorite designers. These items are always something that is timeless, will never go out of style, and that I will have for many many years. Some of my other purchases have been my Burberry scarf, my Christan Loubioutin shoes, and my Burberry Umbrella.

For this trip to Vegas I am really debating between a purse or another pair of shoes. I have found a pair of Fendi shoes that I have fell in love with. But I also have a true love for Christian Louboutin shoes like these.

My other option is to go with a purse. I love this Mulberry purse as it is nice clean lines, large enough but not to big. This is a little steap for what I am wanting to spend though. I also love this Mulberry purse called the Alexa bag. The third purse that has caught my eye is this one from Marc by Marc Jacob. It is much more affordable then the other two.

I guess we will find out in about 10 days time what one will actually be coming home with me!

What to Wear: Job Interview

I am starting a new segment on the blog called What to Wear. This segment is inspired by a book that my sister gave me for Christmas. I started reading it last night and thought that I could put a great spin on the chapters to share will all of you!

The book breaks down different daily situations, and how you should dress for them. The first chapter is all about how to dress for a job interview!

The main points that I picked out are:

• Look professional and put together
• Dress appropriate for the job.
• It is great to wear a watch. This shows that you are on time
• Color is ok. Don't always just wear a boring black suit
• Leave your giant monogrammed purses at home. No one likes a show off, and are you really going to need everything in that giant purse?
• Leave the open toe shoes at home. In most work places open toe shoes are a safety hazard and are frowned upon.

This is the outfit that I came up with. I think that it is a fun approach to a tailored black suit.

The Good, The Bad, and The Gaga

Last night the Video Music Awards were held in Hollywood. This event always brings out a few characters and some great style, whether you like it or not!
Audrina Patridge looked the best she has in a long time. Maybe it is the Dancing With the Stars, but definitely a thumbs up here.Eva Pigford is probably best known for winning America's Next Top Model. Well last night she looked like a model in this colorful creation.

Katy Perry was one of my favorites for the night. She looked amazing in Marchesa. It was light and fun, and still red carpet appropriate.

Florence Welch may be a newcomer to the VMA's but she definitely is not a rookie in fashion. Her Givenchy Couture gown is amazing. Love the styling as well!

Ciara was another favorite of mine also wearing a Givenchy Couture piece. This was hands down my favorite of the collection. It is not a great picture, but she does look stunning.

Selena Gomez- This girl is young, yet she tries to wear gowns so out of her age. This is an improvement over most of her outfits though. And I do love her shoes.Lo Bosworth also hit the white carpet last night. Her dress really left me disappointed. Bad color and bad hair. Why cant this girl ever get it right?Roxy Olin from MTV's The City tried to pull off this number. Except she came out as my worst dressed of the night...

Haley Williams has been around for a few years, but she is finally getting the recognition she deserves as an artist. This Mui Mui dress fits with the event and her personality perfect.

Kesha is a unique person. I think we can all agree on that. To the VMA's she worse a garbage bag styled into a dress... yes unique is the word.

Evan Rachel Wood looks great in this Gucci dress. I just wish she would have left the thigh high boots on the corner.

Emma Stone wore a great leather dress. I love the purple clutch, just wishing she would have went for a lighter shoe.

Ashley Greene has some great style. She also needed to leave the black pumps at home, and next time pack a smile with her! Awesome Giambattista Valli dress though.
Amber Riley was one of the worst dressed of the night. I am still not sure why people chose to wear clothing that make them look larger then they really are...

And then there was Lady Gaga.... I am not a huge fan, but I have to say that I loved 2/3 looks tonight. The third is umm... rare to say the least!

Oh Alexander McQueen you made such beautiful clothes.

And then there was the Franc Fernandez meat dress.

I decided it was time to start a new feature on my blog. This section will be called Item of the Week, and start off every Monday morning.

This week I thought I would start with my true passion... shoes. These were the shoes I was hoping to get in NYC, but they did not have my size. Until then I will lust over how beautiful they are.
