Completed Living Room

Well it is finally done! I have completed our living room redesign. After having hammy down couches, and ugly covers to help hide the floral pattern it was time for an update.

I got told I was crazy to get white couches, but I love them. They are super comfortable and actually makes me want to spend time in our living room!

I also needed some chairs to help add some additional seating. I wanted to bring some color into the room and desided on these great turquise chairs. Yes they are velvet, but I think they are great!

We also added new curtains, and the room was finished. I would love to get a new TV, but for now this room is complete!

Item of the Week #15

I have been featuring some items that I found at my local Welsh's store in Edmonton for Item of the Week. My final amazing piece that I found there was this bar....

It was amazing. I love the rustic worn look of it, and really who would not want a bar in their house. The only thing I did not like was the price. At $1800+ it was a little out of my price range. But hey a girl can dream can't she!

DIY Project #3

Well this one was a real project. I was able to find the one white dresser that I really loved, however, finding a second one was the real challenge.

After a few days of searching pretty much every furniture store in the city, I gave up and bought a dresser. The only problem... it was red.
A trip to Home Depot, and many hours of painting later I finally got my white dresser! After all the painting, I spent a weekend putting it together, and getting it all decorated. It is still missing a few things, but the rest will come along.I think my favorite part of this dresser is the top shelf that are filled with my favorite shoes!

DIY Project #2

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was in search of white dressers for my bedroom. I had a really tough time finding good quality dressers that did not cost a fortune.

I found this gem at IKEA, and although I really did not want IKEA furniture I figured it would do for now. It took me a couple nights to put it together, and it is almost done being decorated now.

It is so much better then what was there before!

My Dresser Search

I am in desperate need of a new dresser.

This is the one that I currently have in my room. It is about 3 years old now, and is just a cheap one from IKEA. It was not put together very well and has made 3 moves in that 3 years. Needless to say, none of the drawers work and its just not functional anymore.
I have always had a love of mirrored dressers. My thinking is that I should buy furniture that would be in my dream house, maybe not the price, but the style that I like. So I went on a search for a new mirrored dress. Here are some that I found.I have always like the idea of open shelving with stainless steel or metal trays to hold my clothing. I dont need much dresser storage as I hang up pretty much all of my clothing. Plus I think it would be really fun to display my shoes in some of these slots!I also liked this white washed dresser. Just not sure how it fits in with my whole idea and color scheme.
I now need to do some looking and see what I can find in store and more importantly what I can afford. Dressers definitely do not come cheap... unless they come from IKEA and you pay for what you get!
