Habitat for Humanity

Yesterday I had the privilege to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity in one of the biggest builds they have ever done. They are planning on building 40 houses in the next 2 years!

It was the first day of the build so we were doing lots of prep work for the other teams to come. We set up the perimeter fence, a large tent for when it rains or on hot days. We also built some bridges to get into the basements, and starting to build some party walls... whatever those are!

We went as a group of 45 volunteers from the Delta Hotels in Edmonton. It was great to see everyone volunteer, and give up their time to help out others.

While we were working it was interesting to see the different dynamics of people. There was a group of men that were in their glory to be working with tools. At time there were too many cooks in the kitchen, but regardless good work was getting done.

There were also the complete opposite as well. There were girls who didn't understand why I wouldn't wear gloves when working because, " your hands might get calloused or dirty" I had to laugh a few times during the day at these comments.

The day was great altogether. I would definitely go back and volunteer again!

Glad you had a great time. Maybe your group can go back closer to the end and see the progress.
