Happy 2011

Well the holidays are now officially over. I hope that all of you had a great break whether it be from work or school.

I had a great holiday season, probably one of the best in recent years. I have some posts coming up this week about some of my Christmas gifts, as well as all the new happenings around the farm as we have started calving season!

In the mean time, I thought that a 101 in 1001 update was in store.

#3- Read a book every month.
My reading had been on a hiatus for a bit, but I have kept with reading at least one book a month. My current read is How To Make Love Like A Pornstar. It is an autobiography by Jenna Jameson. I have to say it is one of the best books that I have read in a long time! It is funny, and raw, and she really does not hold anything back. It is a big read, but definetly one that I would suggest.

#18- See a movie every month
The last movie that we see, Black Swan, you can read my review here.

This month we are going to go see Country Strong. I have been waiting to see this movie for a long time now. I really hope that it lives up to my expectations. Here is the trailer below!

#64- Own 10 cows
Well I did it! In 2010, this summer actually I owned 10 cows of my own. Since that time I have cut back after selling a bred heifer at Checkers, and a couple of my cows being open. My next goal is to cut it down to about 5. I have some good cows now, but time to get some great ones!

As of January 1st, I have completed 36 items, and have 13 that I have started or am working on. Just about 50%!

24 Days of Christmas

In my attempt to be more in the Christmas spirit this year, I thought I would share some of our Christmas traditions with you.

Last year I shared the store of our advent calendars. You can read all about it here.

This year I did not get my calendar right on December 1st as a certain elf forgot to drop it in my car after Agribition. It showed up in the main on the 7th, and I got to open up a few gifts!

This is what the first 7 days of the countdown got me. Along with some really yummy chocholates!

There is a really neat magnate, actually 2 that say Cattle Chick, a tide pen, a $20 chapters gift card, and Robyn Beazley's new book, Live an Amazing Life!

If You Have To Cry Go Outside

I just finished reading Kelly Cutrone's new book, If You Have To Cry Go Outside: and other things your mother never told you.

I had really been wanting to read this book as I love Kelly from The Hills and now her appearances on The City. She also has a TV show of her own called Life on Kell that looks really good too.

Kelly appears to be one of those no nonsense, tough as can be, women. She admits that she often gets called a Bitch, which she refers to as Babe (or Boss) In Total Control of Herself.

The book does get a little preachy at time about her religion and faith, and the beliefs that she has, however, she does it to explain her life. She truly does open herself up to the reader, and holds nothing back. Kelly shares everything from her love life, drug additions, business practices, and insider stories to the fashion world.

Here are a couple of my favorite pieces from the book:

Everything Good Happens After Thirty:

1. Salary Increases

2. High End Fashion

3. A Baby. If you want one

4. The desire and the emotional wherewithal to date three men at the same time without remorse.

5. Vacations outside the USA sans youth hostel

6. Self Control

7. Property Ownership

8. The ability to buy a muscle car... if you want one

9. Decrease in overall paranoia and hysteria, which leads to...

10. Better sex!

The Empowered Girls Guide to Dressing for Work

1. No wife-beaters

2. No cleavage

3. No Belly Buttons

4. No Muffin-top

5. No stilettos or heels over three inches

6. No Flip Flops

7. No gold lame

8. Absolutely no corduroy

9. No belly piercings, eyebrow rings, facial piercings, or any other piercings that don't involve an ear

10. Nothing obviously more expensive then what your boss wears

11. No Chistian Audigier or Ed Hardy, which are forever banned from fashionable workplaces everywhere

12. No shipping the bra, even if you don't thing you need one

13. No cross-dressing
