Mayerthorp Fair
This past Sunday the family loaded up and headed north to the Mayerthorp fair. It is a great little 1 day show. Really low key, and fun to go to.
There is a circuit that runs these shows as well. I think there is about 5 shows in the circuit, and it is a great way to promote your cattle, have some fun, and get your cattle used to being a a show before they have to head to a major show.
We decided to take 7 head, yes I know a little ambitious. However, we had a great day. My heifer calf (SLY Sweet Thing 12X) stood 3rd in class, the bred heifer (RJY First Date 1W) was Champion female, and the big bull (IPU Revolution 172U) was Champion Bull!
We took some pictures of the Bred and Bull once they had won. I will try to get them up when we get them back from the photographer.
Item of the Week
I decided it was time to start a new feature on my blog. This section will be called Item of the Week, and start off every Monday morning.
This week I thought I would start with my true passion... shoes. These were the shoes I was hoping to get in NYC, but they did not have my size. Until then I will lust over how beautiful they are.
They are currently available online at Net-A-Porter USA

Alegria
Last night I had the pleasure of going to see Cirque Du Soleil Alegria in Edmonton. It was opening night, and we had been dealing with the group for months now as they are staying in our hotel.
The show was amazing. These are true artists and masters of their craft. There is a great mix of comedy and true athleticism.
There were a couple of mistakes in the show, and I guess it reinforced how real this all is. One girl fell of her trapez bar. Thank god she was wearing a safety harness. The other time a guy fell off a plank that he was jumping and flipping on.
I love all of the costumes and make-up of the performers in the show. They are so creative and imaginative. It definitely helps to make the show what it is.!
I had 2 favorite parts in the show. The first was a section that was all done on trampolines. The second was the contortionist girls. Wow is it ever amazing how they can move their bodies!
In all the show was amazing! I would highly suggest going if you get the chance. They are in Edmonton for the next 10 days, and it is definitely worth it to see.

Blackberry vs. iPhone
Last night I went to renew my phone contract. I knew I wanted to move to a data phone, however, was undecided between a Blackberry or an iPhone.
The new iPhones look really cool. They have lots of fun features, and of course the new hot tech toy. When I went to ask about getting one, the guy almost laughed at me and told me it would be a 2 month wait. If I wanted to go with the older version, it would still be a 1 month wait.
With that in mind I asked about the Blackberry. He told me that this phone would be much better for the kind of use that I would be doing. It was more economical to buy, and available right now! This made my decision much easier... Blackberry it was!
I now an the owner of a Blackberry Curve. I have no idea how to run it, but am slowly learning. I am actually finding it is much more like a iPhone then I thought as far as features goes.
If you have any suggestions on apps or features on it that you really like, please let me know. I am taking all suggestions at this point

Heritage Day Part 2
The Heritage Festival was much more then just singing and dancing. There was also food. Amazing, wonderful, tasty food!
Heritage Days Part 1
This past weekend us Canadian's got a long weekend thanks to a holiday know as Heritage Days. Although most do not do anything to celebrate it, the City of Edmonton, hosts its annual festival... The Heritage Festival.
This festival is one of the best attended events in the city, especially since it only runs for 3 days. The festival is made up of different countries from around the world. They bring a taste of their culture to Edmontinians. They do this through food, dance, music, and whatever else makes their country unique.
Today I am going to feature the culture elements, and save the food for tomorrow. Have to keep you coming back for more!

We went to Ukraine and listened to folk music.
Huge disappointment when they had ran out of peroggies!
Also at the Netherlands to listen to the whistle/bell machine. It was pretty cool
And Scandinavia as well
China was also on our list of places we visited
We stopped at Russia and met Marcus's mother!
And then dressed up like little Russian dolls
I think my blonde hair matches a bit better the Brett's
And of course we had to stop at Thailand. Oh how I have missed you!
We watched the fire dance
And the beautiful Thai women show off the Thai silks.
It was an awesome night! I can say that I will definitely go back next year. The food alone is worth the trip.

All in Perspective
Last night I was having a chat with a friend. We were both enjoying a good meal, a beer, a hot summers night. But we were both alone...
Now there is nothing wrong with being alone. I am a person who appreciates time when I can have my personal space. It gives me time to think, reflect, and just not have to care about others.
As both of us are single, we talked about if we were looking for someone, and how we go about doing that. I mentioned that I like to use the approach of waiting until they come to me. I am not going to go scouting Edmonton for a man. Instead, if I meet someone of interest I will wait for them to make a move or show interest, and then go from there.
1. Women do not like to have to go find a man. We like to be pursued.
2. Men seem to have lost all confidence when it comes to even talking to a woman. Whether it be just friends, or more, men do not act upon instincts as much as they used to.
I know that for any woman confidence is a huge turn on. We like a man who is sure of who he is, can take action when needed, and can control a situation. However, I cannot recall the last time that I saw this.
Now I do not know why men have lost this. It could be from the cruel women who string men along, only to break their hearts. Or from women who use men just to get what they want, never to talk to them again. There are a million reasons for this.
All I want to know is when will a man show up in my life who is single and has some confidence?
