Engagement Pictures #4

Another option for pictures at the U of A would be this really cute Jacob dress that I bought a couple of weeks ago.

Do you have any favorites yet?

What to Wear: Running Errands

Lets face it running errands are not always the funnest job. It usually consumes a perfectly good afternoon on the weekend, or stopping to do some on the way home from work.

Just because errands are not fun, does not mean we cannot look fabulous doing them! This does not mean you have to be wearing your Sunday best, and no comfort does not have to be compromised.

A few things to keep in mind when putting your outfit together:
  • Comfort is priority
  • Flats or nice runners are a must, makes things much easier and faster
  • Bring a well organized purse with a little bit of storage. Will make not losing your lists easier!
  • Dress in layers. Bring a jacket along, but depending where you are going, it might be better off left in the car for the day.

What to Wear: Jetsetter

Right about now I am stepping onto a plane to head to Las Vegas. One of my pet peeves is people who wear the grosses, ugliest clothes when flying. Just because you are on a plane does not mean that you cannot look great!

Now I understand that on 10+ hour flights comfort is key. For these type flights I encourage dressing in layers. Start with a light weight shirt, a sweater or cardigan, and possibly a light jacket. A larger bag is also important as it gives you more space for carry on items.

For shorter flights, this is where style really should not be sacrificed. A few key things for me is still dressing in layers. This is especially important when traveling to a destination where the temperature is different from where you are coming from. I am also careful of how much metal I have on. Nothing is worse then being late for a flight and having to stop and do the metal wand.

This is a great outfit that I would love to wear on the plane. Looks great in the airport, and you are ready to do anything soon as you get out of the airport.

What to Wear: First Date

The next step in What to Wear is the classic first date. You are excited, nervous, spend days trying to find just the right look. I have put a few tips below as well as an outfit that I definetly would be seen in.

First Date Dressing Tips
  • Don't buy a new outfit. 1. How do you know he is worth it yet
  • You feel more comfortable in your old favorite clothes. Another reason not to buy a new outfit
  • Dress practical. You dont always know what you will be doing. A mini skirt may be cute, but at the bowling ally not that practical...
  • Keep away from bold colors. He should be paying attention to you not your shirt
  • Not show everything on the first date. A body skimming shirt would be great, but don't show all of the girls off the bat.
What to Wear: First Date

I love this outfit for a few reasons. It is practical, low key, but dressy enough for a few different situations. It would look great for a casual dinner, drinks, a movie, or even bowling...

Purse- Mulberry Postman's Lock All In One clutch
Shoes- Alexander McQueen Beige Leather Peep Toe Ankle Boots
Jeans- Miss Me Disc Boot Stretch Jean
Jacket- Caledonian Jacket
Shirt- Wearhouse Cowl Neck Shirt

What to Wear: Job Interview

I am starting a new segment on the blog called What to Wear. This segment is inspired by a book that my sister gave me for Christmas. I started reading it last night and thought that I could put a great spin on the chapters to share will all of you!

The book breaks down different daily situations, and how you should dress for them. The first chapter is all about how to dress for a job interview!

The main points that I picked out are:
  • Look professional and put together
  • Dress appropriate for the job.
  • It is great to wear a watch. This shows that you are on time
  • Color is ok. Don't always just wear a boring black suit
  • Leave your giant monogrammed purses at home. No one likes a show off, and are you really going to need everything in that giant purse?
  • Leave the open toe shoes at home. In most work places open toe shoes are a safety hazard and are frowned upon.
This is the outfit that I came up with. I think that it is a fun approach to a tailored black suit.

It's the Most Wonderful Time of The Year...

and No! It's not Christmas...

It's the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show!! This show gets filmed every November, and then airs each December. I love fashion, and this show is the best of the best.

Each year they come up with so many new and creative ideas! I can't wait to watch it on TV this winter.

Here are some of my favorite outfits that are going to be making their way down the runway

90's Flash Back!

I went for a stroll in the mall last night, and was shocked to find these in a very respectable store.

Stirrup Pants!

I am all sure that we had a pair of these in the 90's. I remember having a black and a pink pair.

Item of the Week #8

Who does not love a good pair of jeans. I am the type of person that when I find a good pair of jeans I buy 5 pairs of them.

I had been looking for new jeans last week and wanted to try on some Miss Me jeans. I had seen lots of people wear them and they are always really cool.

Here is another pair that I really like. Maybe these will be the next ones I buy.

Item of the Week #7

Martin Suite Pant from Bannana Republic. My work wardrobe staple. I have these pants in white, black, tan, and navy. They are so comfortable and flattering on everyone. The best thing, at the outlet store, they are only $50.00!

Item of the Week #6

Hollister hoodies are one of my favorite things to wear. Every night after work I can be found wearing one around the house. Same goes for the weekends. I have not found anything more comfortable, and still decent looking just in case someone shows up.

I love the dark blue of this one. You can find them online on Hollister's website.

Breathtaking...

I have been extremely busy the last few days. In my few minutes of down time I have been keeping track of NY Fashion week. We are only a few days in and there have been some real highs and lows so far.

Thought I would share with you one of my favorite pieces to be presented yet. Don't worry I have 66 others to share with you (or the ones that make the final cut) and we are only a few days in remember, plus still have London, Milan, and Paris!

The Good, The Bad, and The Gaga

Last night the Video Music Awards were held in Hollywood. This event always brings out a few characters and some great style, whether you like it or not!
Audrina Patridge looked the best she has in a long time. Maybe it is the Dancing With the Stars, but definitely a thumbs up here.Eva Pigford is probably best known for winning America's Next Top Model. Well last night she looked like a model in this colorful creation.

Katy Perry was one of my favorites for the night. She looked amazing in Marchesa. It was light and fun, and still red carpet appropriate.

Florence Welch may be a newcomer to the VMA's but she definitely is not a rookie in fashion. Her Givenchy Couture gown is amazing. Love the styling as well!

Ciara was another favorite of mine also wearing a Givenchy Couture piece. This was hands down my favorite of the collection. It is not a great picture, but she does look stunning.

Selena Gomez- This girl is young, yet she tries to wear gowns so out of her age. This is an improvement over most of her outfits though. And I do love her shoes.Lo Bosworth also hit the white carpet last night. Her dress really left me disappointed. Bad color and bad hair. Why cant this girl ever get it right?Roxy Olin from MTV's The City tried to pull off this number. Except she came out as my worst dressed of the night...

Haley Williams has been around for a few years, but she is finally getting the recognition she deserves as an artist. This Mui Mui dress fits with the event and her personality perfect.

Kesha is a unique person. I think we can all agree on that. To the VMA's she worse a garbage bag styled into a dress... yes unique is the word.

Evan Rachel Wood looks great in this Gucci dress. I just wish she would have left the thigh high boots on the corner.

Emma Stone wore a great leather dress. I love the purple clutch, just wishing she would have went for a lighter shoe.

Ashley Greene has some great style. She also needed to leave the black pumps at home, and next time pack a smile with her! Awesome Giambattista Valli dress though.
Amber Riley was one of the worst dressed of the night. I am still not sure why people chose to wear clothing that make them look larger then they really are...

And then there was Lady Gaga.... I am not a huge fan, but I have to say that I loved 2/3 looks tonight. The third is umm... rare to say the least!

Oh Alexander McQueen you made such beautiful clothes.

And even more daring and dramatic shoes...

Lady Gaga's collaboration with Giorgio Armani continued in this amazing black gown.

And then there was the Franc Fernandez meat dress.
