2010 Spring Couture

I will apologize for all of my male readers. I know that fashion really isn't an area of interest to you, so I promise some more cattle, and farm related posts coming up soon.

The 2010 Spring Couture runway shows are on in Europe right now. This is were most of the red carpet gowns come from that I love to critic come from.

I have picked out some of my favorite looks, and really must say that the Ellie Saab show was to die for! Probably my favorite fashion show of all time!

Time to Share #16

About 6 months ago I heard this song during our dance class. I searched and searched to find out who it was by, or what it was called.

My search ended today. Yahoo.ca had an article about a young lady who was from Canada, and is nominated for Best R&B Song. I had a hunch that it was the right song, and to my relief it was!

Melanie Fiona is from Ontario, and has been trying to make it big in the music business for a while. She went to LA to meet with record labels and they all told her the same thing; you look great and sound great.

The problem was that she knew as soon as they started to record they would try to change her. She went back to Ontario, and worked on her own. She is now a Grammy nominated singer, and I sure am hoping for her.

Check out the song, I love the R &B and jazz feeling of it. In a way she sounds like Amy Winehouse, without the drama and being a mess.

Those Crazy Inmates

In celebration of the release of Michael Jackson's This Is It, Sony released this footage that was made just for the DVD. However, it was not finished in time. They released it on YouTube today.

All I can say is that if I ever go to prison, please make sure it is this one!!

101 in 1001 Update

For my 101st blog, I thought it would be appropriate to do an 101 in 1001 update!!

#5- Use me SLR cameral once a month
So I havnt been using it all that much, but I did take it to Winter Light with me. Hope to use it some more soon, I forgot how much fun it can be.

#38- Attend a festival in Edmonton
Shaun and I went to WinterLight! It was really cool to see. Brett and I also went to see the Olympic torch in Edmonton. So technically I went to 2!

#72- Learn new office database
As some of you know I started a new job last week. I have officially learned the new database so #72 is stroked of the list!

#73- Develop a look book
I have a habit/hobby of buying wedding books. I love to look at them and gain ideas and inspiration for my event. I have started to tear the pages out and create a folder of some of my favorite ideas. It is pretty fun to flip through and see them all.

#93- Wear a different pair of shoes everyday of the week
So this was a fun one! Especially getting back into the office. Here is a rundown of the shoes that I wore: White Puma Runners, Pink Barbie Heels, Zebra Barbie Heels, Silver Heels, Black Heels, Black Runners, White Heels

I have been able to stroke off lots of my items lately, now I just need to get on the travel ones!

100 and Counting

This post marks my 100 Blog.

Thank-you for all of you who have kept reading over almost the last year. I promise there is lots more to come in 2010!

For any of you that are wanting to follow my blog, on the right had side there is any area where you can click to become a follower. This will notify you of when I have new postings.

Red Carpet Round-Up: SAG Awards

With so few wowing looks both for best and worst dressed, I decided to combine everyone into just one post. Hopefully everyone is saving their great gowns for the Oscars!

Best Dressed- Diane Kruger
Wow is all I can say. Diane looks stunning in this mustard yellow Jason Wu dress. She was a stand out at this event. The color is stunning as well as the cut. Much improved over the Golden Globes.

Best Metallic- Stana Katic
I also love this dress. As you have probably noticed I have a weakness for heavy metallic gowns. I do not know who Stana Katic is, but she looks a lot like Misha Barton?

Just Keeps Getting Better- Lea Michele
This girl is on fire! I love this green color as well as the ruffled sleeve. This gown is much more age appropriate then her black Golden Globe dress.

Beautiful Neckline- Sandra Bullock
I love the blue feather neckline on this Alexander McQueen dress. This dress seems to fit her personality more then her Golden Globe down.

Best White Dress- Kate Hudson
Kate looks great in white, but some how I feel like I have seen this look on her over and over again.
Best Ruffles- Deborah Ann Woll
This dress is very close to washing her out, the the ruffled skirt really is beautiful. Best Red- Christina Hendricks
Christina give us pure sex appeal again, while keeping everything wrapped up.
Best Custom- Christina Applegate
Christina had this dress custom made for this event The ice blue is beautiful on blondes and Christina is no exception.
Worst Dressed- Betty White
Just because your older does not mean that you have to wear ugly dressed. The dark blue slashed through this dress definitely do not help, not do the blue lace sleeves.
Less is Always More- Joan Allen
This dress is not my favorite by any means, but the thing that really ruins it for me is the hideous necklace. Should have just left it at home.
Velvet is Bad- Julianna Margulies
This is a prime example of how velvet is extremely hard to pull off. Also the top of the dress is ill fitting and looks messy.
Trying to Hard Again- Drew Berrymore
Oh Drew, when will you learn. Again Drew tried to hard. I love the colour of the dress, and would have really liked the gown if it was only 1 tiered. Also the hair is really bad.
So Many Things Wrong- Michelle Monaghan
Where to begin. The material hurts my eyes, the length is bad, the bell sleeve is bad and overall it just does not work.
Really Want to Love But Cant- Toni Collette
I really like this dress from the bust down. The gold and pink just does not work for me.
Bad Fit- Cheryl Hines
This dress is just bad fitting. The color is a little shiny too.
On The Fence- Julia Louis-Dreyfus
I really like this dress. I think I would like this dress a lot more if it was strapless and did not have the shear yok at the top.

Window Shopping

I love to look at really neat store windows. In Edmonton we do not get that many good ones. Sometimes downtown at Holt Renfrew they will have some neat ones, but that's as far as it goes.

In New York high quality windows are all over the place. I think that some of the coolest ones that I have seen pictures of is at Kleinfelds. I have previously talked about how much I not only love the store, but also love the TV show that is filmed in this store- Say Yes To The Dress.
Today of their website they featured some of the best windows over the last year. They all have a different theme, and are really creative.

Some of them are below. I love the one with the woman in the dressing room, and also the Hollywood one!

Ice on Whyte

Last night Shaun and I went to the Ice on Whyte festival. Not only was it really cool to see, but it also helped be accomplish one of my 101 in 1001!

Shaun in the Ice House
Ice on Whyte is put on by the city. It is $2 to get in and you can spend as much time in there as you would like.

Ice sculpturest's from around the world come to take part in the competition. There were sculptures of everything from animals to people. There was also a sweet ice slide, and an ice house.

1st Place
2nd Place- Done by an artist at Armena (just for you Bethan)
I am pretty sure that it was done by Rusty Cox- his dad is a good friend of our family
The ice slide, it was like you were a doing luge or skeleton.
It runs until the end of the weekend, but if you get a chance go check it out! I would suggest going at night while all of the sculptures are lit up.

Golden Globes Best Dressed

This years woman really came out in full force. The woman had some beautiful dresses, and making this list was really tough. Hope you enjoy my picks and let me know what was your favorite!
Best Dressed: Maria Meunounos
I love this dress. I love the drama, I love the color, and most of all I love the train! This is perfection.
Best Purple Dress: Rose Byrne
I love the colour of this dress. Yes it may be very simple, but it is beautiful and elegant. I love the jewel detailing on the hip. The only thing that could be better is if her hair was pulled back.

Best Black Dress: Lea Michele
This dress goes to show anyone that black is not boring. This dress has so many interesting parts to it. I love the volume of the skirt. My only complaint is that it is a little old for young Lea.

Best White Dress: Anna Kendrick
This dress is my runner-up for best dress as well. I love how elegant and beautiful she looks. The shoulder detailing is amazing as well. Her hair is perfect as well as accessories! I also love the ribbon for Haiti as well... very respectful.

Can Do No Wrong: Sandra Bullock
This year is Sandra's year. She looks stunning here in a beautiful purple dress. I noticed this dress last week in a bridal magazine and was thrilled to see it on the red carpet! I love how the skirt is shear to show some leg, without a slit. Love the wispy hair as well.

Always Perfection: Penelope Cruz
After a disappointing promo tour for her movie Nine, Penelope really comes out looking great. Her style is always impeccable and she continually finds herself on best dressed list one after another.

Best Sexy Dress: Olivia Wild
Take note Mariah Carey this is how you do sexy. Olivia looks stunning in this heavily jeweled dress. Love the ponytail to top it all off.

Never Looked Better: Jane Lynch
I may be a bit bias as I have a custom made dress in this colour hanging in my closet, but I love this colour on Jane. She looks stunning here.

Best Short Dress: Ginnifer Goodwin
Although short dresses are not common, and with Ginnifer just being a presenter this dress works. I love the bold colour on her. The twist details and accessories really work here.

This Is How You Do Pink Dress: Emily Blunt
This dress is very romantic and beautiful. I love the billow ruffles and airy feel of this dress. She has a stunning necklace on as well.

Best Ethereal Dress: Dianna Agron
Ethereal dresses were all the rage 2 years ago, so it is great to see another come back. I love the overall look of this dress. She really is glowing. Stunning hair and make-up.
Best Drama Dress: Christina Hendrick
Christina reminds me of Jessica Rabbit all the time. The red hair, curvy figure and overall sexy appeal. This ruffled dress is no exception.

Not Sure About This Dress, But I Like It: Zoe Saldana

Not only is Zoe my female fashion crush, but she has been tearing up the big screen for the last year. I love the colour of this dress, and her hair and make-up also look great. I am not a huge heavy ruffled fan, but here it works.
